Joomla Now a Part of American History
Latest News

...AmericanHistoryCalendar.com, that is. Z Content, the developer of Z Weather, has created a Joomla site devoted to showing American history in a unique way: through a user-friendly web calendar. Birthdays of people in American history as well as events in American history can be viewed using an AJAX enabled calendar. Birthdays and events can be either subscribed to or downloaded and loaded into an iCal compliant calendar program, including Mozilla Sunbird, Apple's iCal, Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook 2007.

The AmericanHistoryCalendar.com site features a new calendar component for Joomla developed by Z Content. This AJAX enabled calendar component allows one to browse the calendar without refreshing the screen. Other features include multiple views, integrated search support, a category filter and iCal support. More information on the component and its availability will be posted at ZContent.net when a release date is available.

The sixth major release of Z Weather (version 6 beta 1) is now available for download by clicking here.  Highlights of this release include:

  • Both Joomla 1.0 and Joomla 1.5 releases are supported.  To use Z Weather with Joomla 1.5, enable legacy mode first before installing.
  • It is now much easier to add a new location.  An AJAX enabled zip code to latitude/longitude converter and lookups for observation and alert county have been added, allowing one to create a new location in a matter of seconds.
  • 3, 12 and 24 hour forecasts can now be displayed. You can now show the weather forecast in 3 hour increments with the new 3 hour forecast mode, ideal when showing a short term weather forecast.  This version allows any of these forecast modes to be displayed on the site.  Previous versions allowed only 12 or 24 hour forecasts to be selected for the entire site.
  • Z Content news is now displayed directly on the Z Weather administration page.
  • This is the first release that will notify you (from the Z Weather administrator screen) if a newer version of Z Weather is available.

Version 6 of the Z Weather component and module are now available.  The cronjob feature of Z Weather is not yet available for this release.
