Users upgrading Z Weather from a release prior to version 6 may receive this message when attempting to access the Z Weather component:

Z Weather is not available from this page.
Please access Z Weather from a menu item instead.

This error occurs because Z Weather no longer supports direct URL access to the Z Weather component, as in "yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_zweather". Previous to version 6, the component data was stored in Z Weather's global settings. This limited Z Weather's component to having only one component page for the website. With version 6, multiple Z Weather pages can now be defined. For example, you may have multiple locations and want a separate page for each location, or you may want one page to show the 24 hour forecast and another to show the 12 hour forecast.

To allow for this, the component settings are now stored with each menu item. You will need to select the "Z Weather" menu type when creating a new menu item. Do not use the URL method of creating a menu item. This will generate the error above in Z Weather.  Once the Z Weather menu item has been created, you can configure all the Z Weather settings specific to that menu item.  You may notice the Z Weather URL created by the menu item will now contain an Itemid value (if SEF is not enabled), which allows Z Weather to get the component settings for that page, for example, "yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_zweather&Itemid=19".
